Presentation
Early childhood scoliosis.
Patient Data
Semisegmented hemivertebra (T9-T10) with two left pedicles and a single right pedicle.
Secondary scoliosis with a primary thoracic curve to the left and a secondary lumbar curvature to the right.
Positive coronal imbalance (C7 deviates >2 cm of the central sacral vertical line).
Uneven shoulders.
No pelvic obliquity.
Case Discussion
Congenital osteogenic scoliosis, often called congenital scoliosis, refers to the scoliosis resulting from vertebral malformations.
In the present case, the vertebral anomaly was a semisegmented hemivertebra caused by a failure of segmentation between T9 and T10.
Lateral inclination spine radiographs evaluate the range of spinal motion and are important in preoperative planning.
