Right upper limb
- transverse deficiency with absence of the forearm, wrist and hand (hemimelia)
Right lower limb
- transverse deficiency with absence of the ankle, and foot bones (apodia)
Left upper limb
- transverse deficiency with absence of the wrist, and hand bones (acheiria)
Left lower limb
- transverse deficiency with absence of the foot bones apart from presence of the talus and calcaneus (apodia).
Case Discussion
Congenital limb deficiency is defined as a loss of any part of a limb. It can be partial uni or bilateral loss or total loss of multiple extremities. Congenital limb deficiency can be congenital (due to genetic syndromes or amniotic bands) or acquired (such as trauma, infection or malignancy).
