Presentation
Persistent headache, left hemiparesis, and seizures.
Patient Data
A well-defined extra-axial mass (measuring 46x46x41 mm in its widest dimensions) with lobulated margins in the right frontoparietal region, arising from the convexity meninges. The mass appears iso- to hypo- intense on T1 and hyperintense on T2 sequences. It shows avid homogeneous enhancement and dural tail post gadolinium administration. No diffusion restriction on DWI/ADC. There is extensive white matter T2/FLAIR high signal in the frontoparietal lobes, consistent with edema. The tumor exerts a positive mass effect on the frontoparietal lobe evidenced by sulci/gyri effacement and a midline shift to the left. Hyperostosis of the adjacent parietal bone is also noted.
Case Discussion
MRI findings are most consistent with meningioma. The patient had a tumor excision which was subsequently histologically proven.
