Cord compression due to osseous metastases

Case contributed by Andrew Dixon

Presentation

Leg weakness. Cord compression?

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Male

Multiple lytic vertebral lesions. At T5 there is extensive involvement of the vertebral body with extension into a pedicle and the impression on the soft-tissue algorithm of material extending into the anterior epidural space particularly on the right. This is the likely site of cord compression and would be better assessed with MRI.

MRI confirms epidural extension of the osseous metastasis causing cord compression without abnormal cord signal.

Case Discussion
