Coronal suture synostosis

Presentation

Referred for further imaging. Clinically had elevated and tilted orbits. Flattened and recessed frontal bone.

Patient Data

Age: 30 month old
Gender: Female
X-ray

There is deformity of the orbits with superolateral tilt (Harlequin deformity) on the frontal radiograph.

Forntal bone flattening with closed lambdoid sutures is demonstrated on the lateral view.

Case Discussion

Brachycephaly refers to a calvarial shape where the bi-parietal diameter to fronto-occipital diameter approaches the 95th percentile. It can result from a craniosynostosis involving the bicoronal and/or bilambdoid sutures.
