Coronoid process fracture

Elbow joint effusion and capsular distension.
Coronoid process fracture is seen associated with bone marrow oedema/bruise at the olecranon. Bone marrow oedema/bruise also is seen at the radial head and trochlea.
Focal nodular enlargement and increased signal intensity of the ulnar nerve at the level of the cubital tunnel on the PD fs sequence. Subcutaneous oedematous changes are noted at the medial aspect of the elbow joint, superficial to the ulnar nerve.
Case Discussion
Fracture of the coronoid process is thought to result from elbow hyperextension with either avulsion of the brachialis tendon insertion or shearing off by the trochlea.
