Presentation

Fall from height, then presenting pain in his left elbow and limited movement.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

X-ray images revealed a coronoid process fracture more evident at lateral and oblique images.

CT images revealed a fracture extending through the anteromedial facet of the coronoid process“O'Driscoll type II fracture” with an increased risk for elbow instability and elbow dislocation.

A small bony fragment is seen at the olecranon fossa.

No other fractures.  

Mild elbow joint effusion.

Case Discussion

This case is a typical example of an O'Driscoll type II fracture of the ulna's coronoid process, requiring surgery with internal fixation.
