Bilateral multilobar and multisegmental ground-glass opacities predominantly in posterior segments. Interspersed air space consolidations and crazy paving appearance at posterior segments also are observed.
There is air in the mediastinum surrounding the cardiomediastinal structures compatible with pneumomediastinum.
Thick-walled cavity measuring about 25*30 mm at left upper lobe superior lingula segment.
Case Discussion
The recent patient had a positive RT-PCR COVID-19 assay complicated by extensive lung involvement and pneumomediastinum. Spontaneous pneumomediastinum in cases of COVID-19 pneumonia could be due to the rupture of the alveolar membrane caused by the virus.
