Presentation

COVID-19 pneumonia with sudden-onset dyspnea and tachypnea. No underlying lung disease, smoking history, and structural abnormality in the body.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male

Extensive bilateral ground-glass opacities in both lungs superimposed by interstitial thickening and tissue distortion, due to known COVID-19 pneumonia

Large left pneumothorax with left lung collapse.

Case Discussion

This is a case of spontaneous pneumothorax background of COVID-19 pneumonia.

We have observed a number of cases of pneumomediastinum and or pneumothorax in those with prolonged stays and worse disease, even those without intubation.
