Presentation

COVID-19 pneumonia with sudden-onset dyspnea and tachypnea. No underlying lung disease, smoking history, and structural abnormality in the body.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

Extensive bilateral ground-glass opacities in both lungs superimposed by interstitial thickening and tissue distortion

There is air in the mediastinum surrounding the cardiomediastinal structures compatible with pneumomediastinum

Subcutaneous emphysema

Chest tube on the left side because of previous left-sided pneumothorax.

Case Discussion

This is a case of spontaneous pneumothorax and pneumomediastinum in the background of COVID-19 pneumonia. The recent patient died after three days of hospitalization.
