Craniopharyngioma

Case contributed by Dr Vinay Shah

Presentation

Headache, giddiness and blurring of vision.

Patient Data

Age: 20
Gender: Male
MRI

well-defined space occupying mass lesion is seen in suprasellar, sellar region, which reveals predominantly solid and partially cystic component within it. The pituitary gland is not seen separately from mass lesion. On post contrast study intense heterogeneous enhancement is seen in solid portion of the lesion with few non-enhancing areas. It is encasing the adjacent both ICA, both MCA and proximal ACA bilaterally.

Case Discussion

A well-defined heterogeneously enhancing space occupying mass lesion in suprasellar, sellar region, most likely represents craniopharyngioma.
Possibility of these represent pituitary macroadenoma seems unlikely.
