Case Discussion

CT features characteristic of a unilateral premature closure of the coronal suture (frontal plagiocephaly).

Craniosynostosis refers to the premature fusion of one or more cranial sutures. They can occur as a primary abnormality (developmental error during embryogenesis) or secondary (mechanical causes such as intrauterine compression, and metabolic causes).

The average age of coronal suture closure is around 24 years.

Coronal synostosis (plagiocephaly) is the second most common type after sagittal synostosis (scaphocephaly). It should not be confused with positional plagiocephaly. which is considered a calvarial deformity that results from external pressure and not from premature suture synostosis.
