Presentation

Dropped weight on neck at gym.

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
Modality: CT

Right lateral cricoid cartilage fracture resulting in mild distortion and narrowing of the subglottic larynx.

Incidental aberrant right subclavian artery.

Blue arrow depicts the location of the cricoid fracture. 

Case Discussion

Laryngeal injuries are rare, with cricoid injuries accounting for <50% of all laryngeal injuries. The cricoid cartilage is a complete ring, therefore any defect is abnormal. This is a follow-up of the original imaging (not available) which accounts for the lack of haematoma / fat stranding.
