Several days of respiratory distress and muffled voice.

There is subglottic tracheal narrowing. The prevertebral soft tissues, region of the epiglottis and hypopharynx are normal. The tonsils and adenoids are not well seen.

Case Discussion

This is a case of croup (laryngotracheobronchitis). The patient received a three day course of steroids and racemic adrenaline which stimulates both alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors, decreasing blood flow and reducing swelling.

The patient was discharged following symptom resolution.
