Patient Data

Gender: Male
ct

A single axial slice from a non-contrast CT head showing the increased attenuation (~70 HU) of the normal crystalline lenses.

Case Discussion

Normal hyperdense appearance on CT of the crystalline lenses: contrast this with the fluid attenuation of the aqueous humor anteriorly and vitreous body posteriorly. Each lens lies posterior to the iris, at the posterior aspect of the posterior chamber, and rests on, and is supported by, the vitreous body. The posterior margin of the lens is more convex than the anterior margin.
