Prominent narrowing of the of the right cuboid-navicular joint space with sclerosis, irregularity, and interdigitation of the bone margins as compared to the normal opposite side. No talocalcaneal or calcaneonavicular joint spaces abnormalities seen.

Case Discussion

This is a case of a non-osseous cuboid-navicular coalition. The most common subtypes of the tarsal coalition are talocalcaneal coalition (48%), and calcaneonavicular (44%), and 8% in other tarsal joints. The cuboid-navicular coalition is relatively rare (<1%), and only a few cases have been reported in the literature.

CT and MRI are the modalities of choice to visualize the location, size, as well as extent joint involvement. MRI is better than CT to differentiate between osseous, cartilaginous, and fibrous coalition. The treatment of cuboid-navicular coalition varies from conservative to surgical.
