Presentation
Abdominal distension. Elevated neurone-specific enolase (NSE).
Patient Data
MRI demonstrates a cystic lesion in the right adrenal gland. The thin wall of the cystic lesion is contrast-enhanced. Additionally, a nodular lesion was seen compatible with metastasis in the left lobe of the liver (red arrow).
Case Discussion
Cystic adrenal neuroblastoma with liver metastasis is a rare condition. MRI revealed that the lesion was cystic in nature with the thick walls of the lesion showing contrast-enhancement. No solid components were detected in the lesion. Differential diagnosis in adrenal masses includes hamartoma and haemorrhage. Most cystic neuroblastomas have a good prognosis and show spontaneous regression.
