Cystic lymphangioma of the orbital cavity

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Left eye proptosis, orbital pain, and left eye limitation of motion for one week.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female

A solid appearing well-defined lobulated margin and relatively hyperdense mass lesion axial width up to 30 x 15 mm and height up to 20 mm in left orbital cavity inferotemporal mostly extraconal interposed the lateral rectus muscle and inferior rectus muscle with impression on these muscles and intraconal bulge are seen. Fluid and thick mucosa in the left maxillary sinus are seen. Left side proptosis is also seen.

Case Discussion

The case illustrates the non-contrast orbital MDCT features of pathologically-proved hemorrhagic cystic lymphangioma of the orbital cavity. Among the different orbital masses, lymphangioma is more common to hemorrhage and presents with acute proptosis.
