Cysticercosis - arm

Presentation

Non-trauamtic right anterior mid arm swelling with pain - 2 - 3 wks

Patient Data

Age: about 20 yrs
Gender: Female
Modality: Ultrasound

There is a well-defined, thin walled, anechoic cyst ( 10 mm ) in subcutaneous plane at site of swelling pointed by patient.

There is a calcification focus ( 3 mm ) in cyst.

Pericystic soft tissue is odematous and shows hypervascularity.

Case Discussion

Characteristic findings of cysticercosis involving arm.

Follow up Ultrasound was done after oral drug treatment. Patient was asymptomatic. Cyst disappeared but some granulation tissue was present. Images were lost and not uploaded here.
