Hyperdense medial epicanthal mass (fluid density) centered over the left lacrimal sac. Associated pre-septal soft tissue standing. No post-septal inflammation. No dacryolithiasis or subperiosteal abscess.
Case Discussion
Dacryocystitis is inflammation/infection of the lacrimal sac from an obstruction. This can be classified as congenital or acquired. In adults, the lacrimal sac or nasolacrimal duct can be obstructed by dacryolithiasis or mucus/soft tissue debris, which predisposes to infection.
