Orbital pain, eyelids swelling, and skin reddening with hard-touch soft tissue bulge in right side medial canthus.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

Largely cystic change of right side lacrimal sac and medial canthus and preseptal soft tissue swelling is seen. The cystic lacrimal sac has an impression on the adjacent eye uveo-scleral layer.

Case Discussion

The case illustrates the non-contrast MDCT features of pathology-proved infected dacryocystitis due to nasolacrimal duct obstruction (NLDO). The major cause of acquired NLDO is previous facial trauma.
