A moderate amount of fluid in the tendon sheath of the abductor pollicis longus (APL).
A mild amount of fluid in the tendon sheath of the extensor pollicis brevis (EPB).
An increased T2 signal in the extensor pollicis brevis (EPB) tendon.
A small multiloculated cystic lesion arising from the palmar aspect of the wrist and near the first carpometacarpal joint.
Subchondral cystic changes and bone marrow edema in the trapezium.
Case Discussion
Fluid in the tendon sheath of both the abductor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis brevis tendons is consistent with tenosynovitis.
Increased T2 signal in the extensor pollicis brevis tendon consistent with tendinosis.
Tenosynovial inflammation of the first extensor tendon compartment of the wrist is known as De Quervain's tenosynovitis.
The small multiloculated cyst at the palmar side of the wrist is consistent with ganglion cyst.
