Deep cerebral vein thrombosis with venous infarction

Axial FLAIR
MRI brain with venogram show absent flow signals in straight sinus, vein of Galen, bilateral internal cerebral veins and bilateral thalamo-striate veins, representing thrombosis.
T2 and FLAIR hyperintense signals are noted in bilateral thalami, internal capsules, bilateral globus pallidi and pericaudate left white matter with facilitated diffusion and blooming on gradient imaging, consistent with venous hemorrhagic infarcts. Mild compression of third ventricle is noted. No hydrocephalus.
Case Discussion
Knowing the pattern and areas of venous infarction helps in suspecting the presence of venous sinus thrombosis.
Deep cerebral vein thrombosis commonly presents with bithalamic edema or infarction.
