Degenerative TFCC (Palmer 2a)

Ulnar sided wrist pain


The ulna is minimally posteriorly subluxed, with mild thinning and intrasubstance degeneration of the TFC disc, predominately affecting the central portion of the TFC proper.

There is a mild tendinopathy of the extensor carpiulnaris (ECU).  Mild tenosynovitis involving the second extensor compartment is noted.

Case Discussion

Degenerative changes affecting the triangular fibrocartilagenous (TFC) disc proper without other changes affecting the TFC complex (TFCC) or surrounding articular cartilage are findings that typify Palmer 2A injuries
