Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) - cheek

Presentation

Left-sided cheek painless swelling.

Patient Data

Age: 75 years
Gender: Male

A well-defined relatively homogeneous hypoechoic mass of the left cheek with internal vascularity on color Doppler.

On CT scan, this mass appears well-defined and located anterior to the masseter muscle with no fatty interface, iso-to-hypodense to muscles on plain CT (mean density = 35 HU) with moderate homogeneous contrast enhancement (mean density = 60 HU).

Case Discussion

The patient went on to have an ultrasound-guided biopsy with a histopathological exam and immunochemistry study that confirmed the diagnosis of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans.
