Extensive, bilateral, hip girdle and thigh muscle abnormality with linear T2 hyperintensity and features of muscle edema. The calf muscles are relatively spared, although incompletely imaged.
Case Discussion
There is myositis affecting the hip girdle and thigh muscles and with a history of a rash, dermatomyositis is the diagnosis.
Significant improvement in clinical features following pulsed steroids.
