Dermoid cyst of the eyelid

Presentation

Soft tissue bulge on the right upper eyelid which has enlarged during the last six months.

Patient Data

Age: 5 years
Gender: Female

A well-defined fluid-fat containing cystic lesion axial width up to 12 x 6 mm and height up to 18 mm in the right upper eyelid subdermal temporal side with minimal impression on underlying bone is seen. Thick mucosa and fluid in paranasal sinuses and thick adenoid up to 15 mm in the nasopharynx are also noted.

Case Discussion

The case illustrates the non-contrast MDCT features of the pathology-proved dermoid cyst of the eyelid. The main treatment is complete surgical excision, however,  the cyst has relatively high recurrence rates.
