Dermoid cyst of the ovary

Vague abdominal pain.

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female

There is a large well-defined cystic mass lesion containing foci of fat and debris in the left ovary extended within the anterior midline of the pelvic cavity characteristics of dermoid cyst. No obvious enhancement of the cyst is detected.

Case Discussion

The case is a 35-year-old female with a history of vague abdominal pain, requested contrast-enhanced abdomen and pelvic MDCT, and cystic mass lesion with foci of fat and debris in left ovary characteristics of dermoid cyst detected. The major complication of an ovarian dermoid cyst is torsion of the ovary and also has a very low risk for malignant transformation (1-3%).
