Routine screening mammograms of a teacher.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female

Normal CC view left breast in 2009.

mammography

Small density now seen laterally in 2011.

mammography

Larger mass 2 o' clock left breast in 2013.

ultrasound

Ultrasound guided core biopsy (needle in situ) confirms an infiltrating ductal carcinoma left breast.

Case Discussion

This case illustrates the value of using the old study for careful comparison with the most recent. No one should reasonably be reading any breast imaging without comparing with previous.

It's important to recognize how difficult it would be to spot the lesion on the 2011 study.
