Presentation
Limping with short right lower limb
Patient Data
The abnormal small size of the right femoral epiphysis, upwards and lateral subluxation of the right femur, as well as shallow right acetabulum, are all keeping with congenital dislocation of the right hip.
Case Discussion
Congenital hip dislocation is more common in girls, the first born baby, more on the left hip and may be bilateral in 20% of cases.
Developmental dysplasia of the hip describes an abnormal position of the femoral head. The condition includes multiple varieties that range from complete dislocation, a partial dislocation, as well as instability Because most of these criteria may not be apparent at birth, the term developmental more accurately describes the condition than the term congenital does. If the condition is discovered early the treatment becomes much easier. The presence of many screening programs makes the diagnosis earlier however unfortunately in our case the condition was discovered lately and manifested by limping and short limb.
