Developmental venous anomaly

- there is a venous angioma noted in the left frontal lobe with multiple small vessels adjacent to the frontal horn of the lateral ventricle draining into a larger vein which in turn drains into the superior sagittal sinus
- no radiographic evidence of brain metastasis
- lytic lesions in the right temporal and posterior parietal bones likely representing metastases; for bone scan correlation
Case Discussion
Incidental finding of developmental venous anomaly/venous angioma in the left frontal lobe.
A DVA is characterized by the caput medusae sign of veins draining into a single larger collecting vein, which in turn drains into either a dural sinus or into a deep ependymal vein. Its appearance has also been likened to a palm tree.
