Diagram - Bismuth-Corlette classification of perihilar cholangiocarcinoma

The Bismuth-Corlette classification defines the anatomic location of the tumour, as shown. This is useful in deciding whether resection or palliative treatment is optimal, as well as the type of surgery. Surgical candidates cannot be determined by this classification alone.
