Left thigh pain following motor vehicle collision.
Patient Data



Acute comminuted fracture of the left mid femoral diaphysis with lateral apex angulation.
No suspicious osseous lytic or blastic lesions.
Joint spaces are maintained.
Moderate soft tissue swelling about the left thigh.
Bone density is normal for patient age.
Acute comminuted fractures of the left anterior and superior to pubic rami are demonstrated.
Case Discussion
Orthopaedic surgeons commonly encounter diaphyseal femur fractures, typically associated with high-energy trauma. Due to the wide range of complications, prompt treatment is necessary, which includes interlocking intramedullary nailing, among others.
