Right leg pain and history of gunshot wounds 20 years ago.

Gender: Male

x-ray

AP and lateral radiographs of the tibia and fibula showing a mature distal tibiofibular synostosis. 

Metallic foreign bodies are seen within the soft tissue of the leg in the background of previous gunshot injury.

Case Discussion

Diaphyseal tibiofibular synostosis is a rare condition that may present with leg or ankle pain with higher prevalence in athletes.
