Presentation

Hair patch at the lower lumbar region.

Patient Data

Age: 11 years
Gender: Female
mri

The MRI sequences demonstrate:

  • mild scoliosis of right-sided convexity

  • congenital block vertebra of L4-L5 with butterfly vertebrae

  • diastematomyelia type I at L4-L5 (hemicords separated by a bony spur)

  • low-lying spinal cord terminating at L5-S1 

  • hydromyelia at L2-L3 level 

  • spina bifida occulta at several levels

  • moderate dural ectasia with sacral perineural cyst
