Presentation

Backache

Patient Data

Age: 15 years
Gender: Female
mri

Tethered, low lying cord, possibly ending at L5 level.
Partial splitting of cord seen at L3 level with hydromyelia from L1-2 to L2-3 levels.
Spinal segmentation anomalies are seen; viz. L5 spina bifida and S1 hemivertebra.
Filum terminale lipoma is seen at L5-S1 level.
Mild scoliosis of lumbar spine is seen; convexity towards left.

Case Discussion

Tethered, low lying cord, possibly ending at L5 level.
Partial splitting of cord at L3 level with hydromyelia from L1-2 to L2-3 levels consistent with type II diastematomyelia.

Spinal segmentation anomalies; viz. L5 spina bifida and S1 hemivertebra.
