Presentation

Known case of epilepsy. On chronic Phenytoin use. Presenting with ataxia.

Patient Data

Age: 32-year-old
Gender: Male

There is diffuse cerebellar volume loss inappropriate to the patient's age. Resultant ex vacuo dilatation of the fourth ventricle and prominence of the folia is noted. The cerebrum is unremarkable.

Case Discussion

There are multiple causes of diffuse cerebellar atrophy, among them are alcoholism and chronic drug use (e.g. Phenytoin).
