Presentation

Old male diabetic patient presents with hoarseness of voice. Past history of otitis externa.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Male

Ankylosing hyperostosis is present as flowing ossification and calcification along the anterolateral aspect of the lower cervical vertebra forming left anterolateral marginal bridging osteophytes lipping.

Left vocal cord paralysis nodular irregularity of left thickened true vocal cord. with the paramedian position. The prominence of the left pyriform fossa, a medial deviation of the left aryepiglottic fold. Anteromedial rotation of ipsilateral arytenoid cartilage. Left mastoiditis, otitis media.

Case Discussion

Left anterior cervical osteophytes causing mechanical compression of the left vocal cord causing unilateral vocal cord paralysis.
