Diffusion imaging in pyelonephritis

Case contributed by Dr Prashant Gupta

History of recurrent UTI with left flank pain, urine positive for pus

Patient Data

Age: 40
Gender: Female

Multiple linear hypointense striations seen in parenchyma

Case Discussion

In this case DWI was used as an adjunct to diagnosis.

Restricted diffusion on DWI in kidneys needs to be interpreted within the clinical context- renal infarcts due to traumatic renal artery dissection also have the same appearance.
