Work up for past-cholecystectomy abdominal pain

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female
mri

The gallbladder is not seen at the anatomical location due to prior resection. There is an 18 x 28 mm cyst-like lesion in the surgical bed that contains a few small low-signal filling defects.

Intra and extra-hepatic bile ducts appear normal in caliber and signal intensity.

Features on MR images are consistent with dilated cystic duct remnant and stones.

A cystic duct remnant refers to a duct remnant more than 1 cm, with or without stone, that causes post-cholecystectomy syndrome.
