Presentation

Low back pain radiating to the left lower limb.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female
mri

There is a left paracentral disc extrusion at the L5-S1 level, compressing the thecal sac and the S1 nerve root. The extruded disc material has a broader dome than a neck with no extension above or below the endplates on sagittal sequences.

 Dehydrated L4-L5 disc.

  • a broader dome than a neck (base) in at least one plane

and/or

  • extends above or below the endplates
