The lateral meniscus is discoid in shape and has a very prominent kink or flounce (ruffle) in its mid portion.
Case Discussion
This is the best example of a flounce that I have seen, i.e. a smooth kink in the body of the meniscus. It is rarely seen in discoid menisci.
