Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

Dilated gas-filled loops of small bowel in the left side of the abdomen. Some feces present in the right colon. No pneumotosis or free gas. Hernial orifices are not imaged.

The gastric band tubing is disconnected at the reservoir. The band itself appears appropriately positioned and angled.

Mirena IUD noted.

Case Discussion

This patient had multiple previous admissions for SBO due to adhesions treated medically.

The disconnect tubing of the gastric band was an incidental finding, but did explain why the patient was unable to lose weight after readjustment of the volume of saline in the band.
