Displaced fibula tip avulsion fracture

Swollen ankle, difficult to assess. Fall.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

Small displaced avulsion fracture from the tip of the fibula.  No talar shift.  Subcutaneous edema evident both sides of the ankle. 

Case Discussion

Fibula fractures can be classified according to the Weber classification system.  An important review area is the talar dome, as osteochondral defects can be subtle.
