Failure of fusion of lateral tubercle of posterior process of talus which is seen displaced superiorly.
Case Discussion
One in three people has this anatomic variant where the lateral tubercle is not fused. The flexor hallucis longus tendon runs medial to it. In cases of displacement, it can be a cause of flexor hallucis longus tenosynovitis.
