Distal biceps brachii tendon rupture

Presentation

H/o lifting heavy object with left hand - 5 days back. Anterior distal elbow pain.

Patient Data

Age: 80 yrs
Ultrasound

There is absence of normal distal biceps tendon at its location. There is complete tear of tendon from insertion site at radius. Retracted tendon is about 50 mm away from insertion site. There is local collection (  about 15 x 15 mm ) with echoes around retracted tendon .

Rest of the elbow examination was normal.

 

Case Discussion

Findings suggest complete tear of distal tendon of biceps.
