- lateral and frontal radiographs at initial presentation (1 and 2)
- aggressive bone lesion in the distal femur
- wide zone of transition
- lateral and frontal radiographs 2 weeks later (3 and 4)
- the lesion has enlarged
- new pathological fracture
- lateral and frontal radiographs of fracture on follow up (5 and 6)
- marked periosteal reaction
- impaction of the previously imaged pathological fracture

STIR, T1, and T2 with fat saturation demonstrate the extensive soft tissue component, not apparent on the initial presentation radiographs.
