X-ray shows transverse fracture at the distal phalanx of the left little finger with mild angulation.
Case Discussion
- Phalangeal fractures result from direct trauma (hammer-heavy object)or catching a finger in a closing door, or the toe is crushed between two rigid bodies.
- Distal phalanx fractures are often accompanied by injury to the nail bed, nail avulsion, or subungual hematoma.
- If the fracture is not fused, ORIF may be required.
