Presentation

Pain and swelling of the right thumb after a weight fell on it. On examination: right thumb distal phalanx swelling and tenderness, nail bed hematoma, pain on movements.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male
x-ray
  • x-ray shows comminuted fracture at the distal phalanx of the right thumb, with suspected intra-articular extension
  • mild soft tissue swelling
