Distal radio-ulnar joint and triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) injury

Fall in a cycling accident 3 weeks earlier. Piano key sign of the distal ulna.

Patient Data

Age: 20
Gender: Male

Bone bruise and dorsal displacement of the ulnar head of about 10 mm. Effusion in the distal RU joint. Focal bleeding into the ulnar insertion of the discus with avulsion of the ulnar styloid process.

Case Discussion

Marked dorsal displacement of the ulnar head, volar capsular hematoma and effusion of the RU joint indicates rupture of the volar radioulnar ligament.
